LiemComputing has been fully re-written to prioritize optimization and accessibility, enhancing the user experience and saving significant time. Users assigned a course now have two distinct options for accessing course materials and lessons, each implemented with unique back-end mechanisms:

💻 ELSIE - Built-in Editor

One of the best features dedicated to LiemComputing is the newly built-in code editor, ELSIE. Why is it named ELSIE? Because Mr. Liem said so. Just kidding. It is because LiemComputing's acronym is LC, and LC is pronounced ELSIE. In order to access ELSIE, simply click the "ELSIE" button in the navigation bar. Here are some notes to keep in mind when using ELSIE:

• Find your work: search file and folder names in the current folder, then open a result in context. Shared locations show the files and folders your teacher or classmates have shared with you.
• Save and recover: Save writes your file. Local draft recovery separately protects unsaved edits and lets you keep or revert them when reopening the editor.
• Run and preview: run supported programs in the output panel. HTML work has a separate browser preview so you can check the page alongside its source.
• Per-exercise history: open the score control to review attempts, marker feedback, and the code submitted for that exercise. Current scores and previous attempts stay distinct.
• Make it comfortable: your panel controls theme, text size, code suggestions, and Reduce Animations. Motion preferences are remembered on this browser across sign-out.
• ⚠️ The maximum allowable upload size is 500 KB.
• ⚠️ You can change the theme of your ELSIE editor by going to your panel.
• ⚠️ Any form of exploitation will be subject to penalties. Students are advised to report such to an administrator.

New Panel & AI Marking

Your panel is now the home base for marks, feedback, and editor settings. Open it from the "Welcome ..." button in the top-right corner, then use these sections:

• Actual shows earned exercise marks against all assigned exercise marks. Tests do not change this exercise-progress percentage.
• Average Score combines completed exercise running points (the Reports /2 scale) with test points: total earned divided by total possible. Open the score chip to see the exact breakdown.
• Exercises shows your AI-marked work, teacher feedback, previous attempts, and current score.
• ELSIE AI Mark lets you self-mark a new exercise once. If you submit changed code later, it is saved for teacher review, but your score stays the same unless your teacher re-marks it.
• Identical resubmissions are blocked. If your code is the same as before, ask your teacher to review the existing attempt instead.
• Editor Preferences controls your ELSIE theme, font size, and autocomplete.

⁉️ FAQ - Frequently Asked Questions

1️⃣ How can I reset my password?

└ You can change your password by navigating to your panel. However if you don't remember your password, ask an administrator for a reset.

2️⃣ How can I check all of my marks?

└ You can check your marks by going to your panel. Simply click on the "Welcome ..." button on top right.

3️⃣ I'd like to take a test. How can I do so?

└ Open Courses and choose Request Access for your current unit's test. The request stays visible with its expiry while your teacher approves or rejects it. If it expires, you can request it again.

4️⃣ I found a bug. Where can I report that?

└ Thank you for being a bug hunter. Use the website feedback form below, or send feedback from your student panel. Your teacher can review it in the Teacher Panel.

LiemComputing underwent a comprehensive transformation over a three-month period, thanks to the dedicated efforts of Porya Dashtipour, Jaiden Shahi, and Mr. Liem. The platform was officially launched in December 2022. At the time of writing (2024), both Porya and Jaiden are students at The University of British Columbia and were previously students of Mr. Liem.
