Open Courses for your assigned lessons and tests, or Content to browse course files. Your teacher provides your account and course access.
ELSIE is the site's code editor. Its name is pronounced like “LC,” short for LiemComputing. Write and run programs here, or preview your HTML pages.
The search box finds files in the folder you have open, and shared folders hold work your teacher or classmates have shared with you. Save writes your file; until you save, your edits are kept as a draft in this browser, so you can restore or discard them the next time you open ELSIE. Click an exercise's score to see your earlier attempts, the code you sent and the marker's feedback. Uploaded files can be up to 500 KB each.
Your editor theme, text size, code suggestions and Reduce animations are in your panel.
Report security problems to an administrator. Exploiting the site may result in penalties.
Open your panel from the account menu in the top-right corner.
Actual is the marks you have earned against your whole semester plan, using your teacher's score weights. Average is your average on the work marked so far, with the same weights; click the score to see how it is worked out. The Exercises list has everything you have sent in, with its feedback and earlier attempts.
AI Mark in ELSIE marks a new exercise once. If you change the code and send it again, it is kept for your teacher to review, and your score changes when they re-mark it.
Identical resubmissions are blocked. Ask your teacher to review the existing attempt if you need another look at the same code.
Change it in your panel. If you cannot sign in, ask an administrator to reset it.
Open your panel from the account menu. Exercises and tests show their scores and feedback.
Open Courses and choose Request Access for your current unit's test. Your teacher must approve the request. The request shows how much time is left; if it expires, you can request access again.

Porya Dashtipour and Jaiden Shahi, former students of Mr. Liem, built the original site with him. LiemComputing launched in December 2022.
In 2026, Dyson Dupuis rebuilt LiemComputing, and most of what you see today is his work.
He rebuilt ELSIE to run Python, Java, C++ and Julia, accept input while a program runs, and preview websites with multiple pages. He added draft recovery, output comparison with the answer key, and shared editing so a teacher can work on a file with a student.
He also built AI marking, written feedback and Unfair AI reports. The student panel keeps each attempt and its feedback. Tests save answers as students work and can recover after a server restart. The teacher panel brings together live test monitoring, marking, score plans and grade exports.
The site uses Node.js, Express, React and MySQL. Socket.IO handles live updates and shared editing. AI marking uses the OpenAI API, with lesson criteria teachers can edit and spending controls in their panel. Student programs run in Docker containers.
